Vengaya kara kulambu/onion kara kulambu/pulli kulambu/small onion kulambu


Small onion kara kulambu is traditional South Indian recipes.  Kara kuzlambu is one of the favorite gravy its sour and spicy tasty  of lunch time serves with egg or any porriyal its really delicious.

Serves : 4 
Preparation time : 10mins
Cooking time : 35 to 40 mins



Ingredients :

Small onion - 250 gram(30 nos)
Tomato - 1
Tamarind - lemon size
Mixed chilli powder - 3 tbsp
Fennel Powder - 1 tbsp
Salt - 1 tsp ( as for your taste)
Mustard - 1/2 tsp
Gingelly oil - 4 tbsp

Procedure :

Lets first wash the tamarind and soaked for half an hour to 1 hour to soften.






 
After half an hour tamarind get soften.  Now strain through sieve and press down with a hand to extract all the juice. Discard dregs and use the juice only. Keep it aside.






Now add the chilli powder and fennel powder together then mix it well. I use homemade chilli powder.







Take clay pot or anyone kadai pour the gingelly oil.




Once oil is heat add with mustard seeds.




Mustard seeds are completely pop add with onion and fry for 3 minutes mix it well.




After 3 minutes add into the chopped tomato and salt saute them till the tomato are nicely mushy and onions turn golden color.




Once the onion and tomato get golden color pour the tamarind mixture and add salt as required. Boil till the oil coming out.




When oil is come out from the gravy now the kulambu is ready. Switch of the stove. If you want add curryleaves.



Delicious and good aroma kulambu is ready.  Serve with egg, Avarakkai poriyal or appalam its really wonderful recipe. Let's try it.
